Hello

So this week we have been trying to clean up our area book because there are about fifty bajillion potential and former investigators and so we decided that the fastest way to see if any of these people are still interested in learning more or not is sending out a mass text that says the following:

"Hello! We are the missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We see that you have shown interest in the past in learning more about the church. If you are still interested please reply "YES" and we will call you to schedule an appointment. If you are no longer interested reply "STOP" and we will take you off our lists. If you do not reply, you will be added to a daily spiritual thought text! Thank you and have a blessed day!" 

It has been super effective! Tons of people have replied stop, which is totally fine because it clears out those who really aren't ready. But we have also gotten quite a few who wanted to learn more! A lot didn't reply (obviously they didn't think we were serious about a daily spiritual text) until we started sending them texts every day and THEN they replied and wanted to be taken off the list. Lol. Silly people. Missionaries are serious about these kind of things. 

Hope came to church again this week. She's so solid. I love her way too much! The members just absolutely love her and she just acts like she's a member already. She will be baptized soon, I'm sure! (:

He's Given Us HOPE!

Hey y'all.

This week has been full of ups and downs, kinda like the hills here in Georgia. But overall it was pretty amazing.

I went on exchange with Sister Lang this week and we were able to get in with so many of our investigators. We have an investigator named Lorri her daughter Emma who have been going through some tough things. Lorri's dad is actually a member and used to live in our Ward but recently was put in a hospital and Lorri and Emma moved in the house. We have been helping them clean it up, paint, and pack boxes to put in storage. They came to church once because they felt like they owed it to us for helping them. We went over this week though, told them we have an important message, sat down and taught the plan of salvation. They were so intrigued. As we were teaching the three kingdoms of glory we talked about how Heavenly Father will place us in the kingdom we feel most comfortable. Kind of like how if we went to a big fancy ball, where everyone is dressed up in gowns and fancy jewelry, we wouldn't feel comfortable if we were there in a tshirt and jeans. Afterwards Lorri turns to Emma and says "I don't know about you, but I'm putting on my prom dress and I'm going to the sun!!" Lol. We invited them to be baptized and they both accepted (:

When I first got to this area we had a potential investigator named Hope who allowed us to come in and teach her the restoration. She told us, though, that the only reason she was letting us in was because we had been trying to for so long and she felt bad for us. We dropped her afterwards, but still left her with a Book of Mormon. This week we truly felt prompted to go and visit her. She opened the door and told us it was a bad time, but still continued to tell us EVERYTHING that was going on in her life. We ended up staying for about an hour. We told her we were singing in church on Sunday and she told us she wanted to come hear! She came and just loved it, of course. How can you not love church? We went over to her house later that night and asked her if she had any questions. Nope, she said she understood everything and had nothing negative to say. She told us she has been looking for a church that quenched her thirst for a long time and she has finally found it. She pulled out the Book of Mormon we had given her a couple months earlier and she was a third of the way done! She had been reading everyday and has a solid testimony of the Book of Mormon. We invited her to be baptized right then and there and she hugged us as she said "Yes!"

Heavenly Father is blessing us so much! Everyday we are able to see His hand in our lives. He prepares His children and places us in their path or them in ours. The gospel truly does give us the happiness and peace that we need in our lives if we only are obedient to what our Heavenly Father wants us to do. God is good!

The Lord Will Provide

Hey y'all.

Busy week again.

So on Saturday sister Palmer and I were finishing up companion studies and reviewing our plans for the day one last time, and we got a text from someone we haven't actually been able to meet yet. We have called this person numerous times and set up appointments that fell through... But she asked if she could meet with us that day! She said that she was wanting to meet with us this Saturday, but then realized that she never set up a time! We were so excited and told her we could meet in about an hour. We weren't doing very well on our goal for lessons taught with members present for the week and so we texted everyone we could think of to have them come to this lesson with us, but everyone was busy. So we put our trust in Heavenly Father, knowing He will provide as we try our best and went to the lesson without a member. When we got there, there was another man in the house who introduced himself as Brother Dawkins. Now, who introduces themselves that way if they weren't a member?? It turns out that her husband is a less active member that hadn't had his records switch over to Monroe Ward yet, but he wants to come back to church and eventually be sealed to his wife for time and all eternity in the temple :) Heavenly Father provided a member for our lesson!  It was amazing to hear his testimony and inspirational to hear what his goals and desires were. She had a lot of questions, and brother Dawkins asks her "can we set up times we can have the missionaries have the discussions with you?” Perfect! Sister Dawkins accepted and wants to learn as much as she can because she "already feels it is true."  Heavenly Father is definitely preparing people for us! (:

We were able to go to the temple this week! It's such an amazing place and I wish I could go every day. I truly am grateful for the opportunity that we have to have so many temples throughout the world and the guidance and direction we are able to get from them. We also had interviews with President and Sister Bennion. I mentioned to Sister Bennion that us four sisters in the Monroe Ward are singing in sacrament meeting and needed an arrangement of a hymn. Apparently, this means I am musically talented and now have to sing in zone conference in front of a member of the 70 ..? Wish me luck because… I really can't sing.

Mother's Day

Hey y'all.

So this week has been literally amazing. I feel so lucky to be here at this time and to be finding those who are ready to receive the restored gospel.

Last Monday we went to visit a referral a member had given us, but they were not home. We tracted a couple of houses around and made our way back to the car, finding no one who was interested in listening to us. As we were walking back we were literally stopped by the Spirit. I don't know how exactly to explain it, but I had never felt the Spirit as strongly as I did at that moment before in my life. We needed to go to the house we were stopped in front of. It was getting dark and the house was tucked away in the woods, but we could see a small light on in the window. We walked up the driveway, past the "no trespassing" sign, and knocked on the door. Lisa answered. She looked absolutely shocked we were there. We introduced ourselves and the Book of Mormon. She took in everything we were saying. The spirit was strong and we were In tears by the end. We found out she's a single mom of 3 girls, 8, 10, & 16 years old. Her girls want to go to church so badly but because of Lisa's job, she was unable to go Sunday's. Last week she found a new job that gave her the weekends off. When we asked if we could come back and share more with her, she gave us a hug and told us any day and every day she wanted us back.

Wednesday evening we had another lesson with Lisa and her girls. We found out Lisa had read not only the assignment we had left her to read in the Book of Mormon, but much more. She had prayed and feels it's true. She told her friends about our church and how she feels about it, and when they gave her false information, she told them to stop making false accusations and take the missionary discussions themselves. We taught the restoration, and again were in tears by the time we were through with the lesson. Lisa and her girls are now preparing for baptism. It's amazing to be apart of this work and to literally be a vessel for the Lord. I know this is His work and He will do it His way, we just have to be humble enough to follow the promptings that are given to us. There are so many people who are prepared. And I know we received that referral for a reason, even though we didn't even get to see the referral, we needed to be in that area at exactly that time. Wowie wow. God is so good (:

I hope y'all had a good Mother's Day! I know I loved talking to my family! And I'm so grateful to my beautiful mother and her wonderful example to me. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her. 🌻

HELLO

I've learned so much this week. Ether 12:27 has a whole new meaning to me.

27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

Heavenly Father knows how to humble a person, that's for sure. Being on my mission I have definitely found a lot of my weaknesses, it's frustrating at first, but over time as we rely on Heavenly Father he will help us to strengthen those weaknesses. Of course it's a long process. We have to work hard at it. We are in training to learn how to be Godly and Christlike. So we can't resist the exercise and routine and discipline that it takes to achieve that plan.

All of our progressing investigators have been M.I.A. on us. But we have been working hard at getting a ton of new investigators who we hope will be solid. *crossing fingers* We have truly been led by the Spirit this week as we have done inspired tracting. We go onto a street and pick three houses we want to knock on, ask for referrals from all of them and see what happens. It's so great to see that every referral we have gotten from someone random, they have been interested in learning and we have had full on lessons with them, invited them to read the Book of Mormon, assigned them a chapter, and set up a return appointment. Now that I've seen the blessings from asking for referrals for everyone, I never want to do this work without it (: no wonder our leaders has asked us to ask for referrals!

Our A.C. has been out all week so we have all the windows wide open so we can get some "cool" air inside. Unfortunately though it's been extremely hot and rainy which means it's been humid. And since it's been raining we need to close the windows sooo...it's been a struggle. Yesterday we came home at 9pm and it was 90 degrees inside. Lol we survived though.

I went on exchange with Sister Holden this week to fort Yargo. All of our plans fell through so we ended up tracting for 6 hours straight, but it was wonderful! We met so many fabulous people. One door we knocked on and a man told us to come in. Unfortunately we couldn't because there wasn't another women in the house but we stood outside and talked to him while he was sitting on his couch inside (he had just had surgery so he couldn't get up). We had a short lesson on the restoration with John, gave him a Book of Mormon and set up a return appointment, and asked to say a prayer. He said it was fine with him, but because it wasn't his house, we would have to ask his friend. We didn't realize until that moment that there was another man in the room on his phone. So we asked him "Could we say a prayer?" "What??" "Can we say a prayer??" "What?!" And then John joins in "PRAY!" "Clay?" "PRAYYYY!!" "Stay??"  " PRRRAAAAYYYYY!!!" ....this was going on for like five minutes as all of us were trying to play charades with this guy to tell him we were going to pray. Finally he got it! And we said a prayer (: haha

There's this man named Brother Stephens who was our team up for a lesson one night. Brother Stephens is a convert of about 5 years. He's probably the most baptist Mormon I have ever met, but he has such a strong testimony of this gospel. Our set appointment that we were bringing him to wasn't there, so we go visit a potential investigators house. Nobody is answering the door so as we are about to leave a van pulls into the driveway. Brother Stephens opens up his arms and yells "WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU!" Only thing is, we had no idea who these people are. We secretly try to tell Brother Stephens that they aren't the people we are looking for. He turns around and said "it's okay. I'm in sales." Then turns back around and yells it out again! We were a little mortified because these people had the weirdest look on their faces and we knew they felt awkward and a little scared. Haha but as Brother Stephens kept going ... "We have this beautiful message for you today that will change your whole life." He tells his conversion story, we teach a little bit about the Book of Mormon and we get two new investigators. They're solid. But boy oh boy. Brother Stephens.. Lol!

SISTER EXCHANGES

Hello y'all!

This week has been crazy busy. Zone conference, a couple of exchanges, new ward mission leader, and we had set some extremely high goals so we have been working our hardest to accomplish them. Of course with the Lords help, we were able to.

First of all we had zone conference which is always fantastic. But instead of having it with just our zone, it was with the Athens zone AND the Sugar Hills zone, the two largest zones in the mission, so there was a ton of missionaries there. Our special guest was the car people from Salt Lake to update our TIWIs. If y'all don't know what TIWI is, you're lucky. It's basically this little device they put in your car to monitor your driving. We log in and out every time we drive, if we are speeding it will yell at you, if you turn too sharp it will yell at you, if you stop too quickly it will yell at you, AND if you have the TIWI in our car, it will yell at you if you go up a hill or simply start the car. Bless it's heart. Thank goodness for the new update...it's better. (:

Zone conference is always a joy though, I absolutely love learning about how I can improve and apply things into my life as a missionary. This months was all on remembering. Remembering what we have learned in past zone conferences and remembering who we are. Remembering to be prepared, be clean, & be busy. And remembering the Book of Mormon and to testify of it leading us closer to Jesus Christ.

Sister Robinson, my other half, and I then went on exchange to Greensboro. Thanks to the amazing Atlanta traffic we were able to get there at approximately 8:01pm to which we stopped in on a couple of their investigators, found 2 new investigators and went home for dinner. On our way inside we found a frog! So we caught it and Sister Robinson decided to put it on her head of course which was all fun until the frog leaped from her head and fell onto his back on the cold tile floor. #RIP #AllFrogsGoToHeaven

After our exciting exchange we met up with another set of sisters and I was able to go on another exchange with Sister Rosenberg. I absolutely adore her. She's fabulous. We are able to find 3 new investigators, ......  Needless to say, I'm tired and I was glad to be back with my companion sister Palmer.

We have been able to see many miracle here, too. As we have been stopping in on "unreceptive" less actives we have never met before many of them we have left in tears as they tell us we were sent there for a reason. All resulting in having a return appointment to teach their nonmember family members.

THE HOLY GHOST

Hello!

I've learned a lot this week. That's what I love about the gospel, is that we are able to learn so much, yet we are never going to know everything. The opportunity to continue to learn and progress is so exciting! My studies have had a theme this week. "Be Clean."  Clean meaning different things. Spiritually, physically, environmentally. We need to be clean in all we do, say, act, and think because we never know who is watching us and what kind of impression we are leaving. There is a quote from President Hinckley that I just love! "You are His chosen servant; you have been [called] to something holy and wonderful. You cannot live in the world and partake of the ways of the world. You must be above all of that." And it's true!

We have the baptism of 9 year old Jeremiah this weekend! We are so excited for him, he has learned so much these past couple of weeks we have been working with him. His parents are both converts but have been inactive for a long time now, but have started to come back due to Jeremiah's example. Yesterday his best friend passed away in a car accident, we went to see him and because we had just taught him the Plan of Salvation Jeremiah knew his friend was okay and watching over him and he will see him again. It was so sweet to see him share his testimony with us. (:

Our teaching pool consists of 9 year old boys and old single men... There is no in between. But there's a couple pictures with my favorite 9 year olds below (:

My testimony of the guidance of the Holy Ghost increased this week as my companion and I were wondering where we needed to go. We made some solid plans the night before all on the other side of our area. We left in the morning but after about an hour of being in that area we receive a call that unexpectedly brought us back for a couple of hours. It would take a lot of miles to go all the way back to where we had planned to be but we didn't know what we would do in the area we were in either. My companion lovingly reminded me that as we pray and seek the Lords help, He will take us where we need to be. We said a prayer and both felt very strongly that we needed to be at the Less Actives home, where we had planned to be the night before, even though it would take several miles to get there again. We knocked on the door and Brother Reid's daughter (a nonmember) came out.. "Are y'all Mormon?" "Yes" "Come in!" As we go in, we meet brother Reid who is 80 years old and very deaf but so happy to see us. His daughter goes back into the kitchen and starts crying. We go over, put our arm around her and ask her what's wrong. She said that she has been praying for help to take care of her father and also for the knowledge of how to grow closer to Heavenly Father when we knocked on the door. She knows that God sent us at just the right time. I know that as we follow and rely

on the Holy Ghosts guidance, and have the humility to follow the promptings, we will be led to those who are prepared to receive the message or who may just be in need of us at that time.
